Each of our three elementary schools has a Parent-Teacher Association. PTA is an organization that provides a means for parents, teachers and administrators to combine efforts in creating a richer environment for children. Each PTA meets one time per month.
Funds obtained from membership dues and fundraisers enable the PTA's to offer or assist with varied programs and services. Some of these include the cultural arts programs and field trips.
In addition, our PTA's are in touch with local, state and national legislators about district concerns and keep abreast of new legislation that has potential impact on the community. PTA is the organization in which the community has its strongest voice. "People Taking Action" is a reality in the Merrick School District, and all parents are urged to participate.
